Patent Application to Protect Your Invention Idea:

Filing a patent application for an invention idea is an essential step to protecting your intellectual property rights to your invention idea. Working with a licensed Patent Practitioner to properly file your patent application can give you the power to prevent others from making or selling your invention idea. The patent application needs to be filed with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office). While it is true that you can file the patent application on your own, we would not recommend this option. This route should especially be avoided by an individual with no IP experience. It's not for the feint at heart. A patent application is a very important document and the patent application process is a slow process. However, before you start the patent application process, there are things you can do now, for free, to help protect your invention idea. What is a Patent Application?

A Patent Application is the initial version of an invention which is submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The Patent Application consists of all the information which will eventually become a full United States Patent after being reviewed by the USPTO.
